Waves at Red Frog Beach Island Resort
Renown as the Indonesia of the Caribbeans, Boca del Toro is firmly established on the Central America surf scene.
Isla Colon holds the main breaks, the most famous being Bluff, a hollow & powerful barrelling wave breaking super-close to the shore. On Isla Careneros, the famous left reef break peels down the island, for a ride that can top 200m: an all-rounder with nice lip-line and cutback shoulders, but it holds size and can have some long tubing sections too. For the chargers only, on Bastimentos, Silverbacks is a challenging righthander which can get monster-sizes!
Beginners will have a less stressful time on Isla Bastimentos at First and Red Frog beaches, and on Isla Careneros at Black Rock Point.
December to April is the prime season to surf in Bocas del Toro, but there is also a second June-August season if you do not mind a few rain showers.

The Jungle Village is hidden among the tropical flora of Bastimentos, situated on a hill overlooking the Caribbean. Secluded and private, the Jungle Village includes an exclusive pool and occasional monkey swinging through. These Balinese style one and two bedroom units have incredible views and fully equipped kitchens, AC, coffee makers, free WiFi and tv.
