Lucero

Lucero is located on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the Nicoya Peninsula, in the blooming village of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica’s surfing mecca. Even though Lucero is located in the center of town, within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and to the beach, it is still far enough from the hustle and bustle. Sitting on a small hill surrounded by trees the hotel provides a peaceful and relaxing stay.

The lowest level is communal with the restaurant for your meals, theory lessons, and a pool in front to cool off when it’s hot. On the upper level, there are the rooms looking out over the pool with on the side a cool little garden and on top of the hill, there is the ocean view house and jungle view apartment.

Playa Santa Teresa offers up quality beach break waves for all levels, which with the right swell can produce barrels for advanced surfers. The area also has a range of fun point breaks.

Usually, you can surf year-round with the largest SW swells arriving in the wet season of May – October. Throughout the dry season on December – April, consistent smaller swells are to be expected. Generally, there are a lot of light wind days, meaning lots of glassy surf!

With more than 15 years of coaching experience in Santa Teresa, Lucero offers personalized surf lessons for all levels and ages in small groups with only 2 or 3 students per instructor. The certified surf coaches have all the knowledge needed to get you started or to get you to that next level.

The hotel has four private rooms (with private bathrooms), two with queen size bed and two with king beds that we can also separate into two single beds. For the ones looking for more privacy and extra space, there is an ocean view home with two bedrooms/bathrooms and a one-bedroom jungle view apartment with a small living room with kitchen, sofa bed and a big patio in front.

All rooms have therapeutic matrasses, AC, ceiling fan, mini-fridge, safe and a comfortable hammock. Lucero ‘style’ is a combination of old Spanish on the outside with white brick walls, Spanish tile on the roofs and touches from Bali on the inside with finished concrete, beautiful wood and the finest linen bedding.

Lucero offers a delicious breakfast buffet included in the package. The breakfast consist of bread, spreads, different kinds of granola, gallo pinto, eggs, fresh fruits, pancakes or banana bread, fruit juice, regular and almond milk, coffee and tea.

The hotel has also a small restaurant with pool offering lunch and dinner.
