Waves at Islas Secas
The wild exotic Southwest Panama, with its many world-class waves, feels like an uncrowded version of neighbouring Costa Rica!
The major swell season is February to June with numerous 3-12ft swells from the S-SW and light winds but you can actually find great surf all-year-round in this area.
From peeling reef breaks to punchy beach breaks the coastline has waves for all tastes and surfing skills!
Islas Secas Resort can arrange surfing at a number of locations on Panama’s Pacific coast: Isla Silva Afuera, Adentro, and Morro Negrito are the consistent local breaks.
Casitas

Tented Casitas
One Bedroom. Get up close and personal to the great outdoors with our Tented Casitas, the most stylish tents this side of the Pacific. With expansive inside-out living, including a bedroom opening right onto a broad terrace, and large outdoor soaking tub with incredible sea views, this is romance at its best.
Casita Mirador
One Bedroom. Tucked away with a bird’s-eye view of a sheltered bay, this single Casita is perfectly positioned as a romantic getaway. Guests enjoy total privacy at Casita Mirador, set discreetly in beautiful, tropical garden, complete with plunge pool overlooking the ocean. This is the place to escape and reconnect.
Casita Sombras
Two Bedrooms. There’s something playful about Casita Sombras. Nestled into the vibrant landscape it conjures the spirit of a luxurious treehouse, complete with plunge pool and private path down to a sandy cove and direct access to the sea. The site features two separate Casitas that are tastefully set apart, able to sleep up to four guests in king or twin beds.
Casita Tres Palmas
Two Bedrooms. Casita Tres Palmas is a great option for families. There’s plenty of room to spread out and take full advantage of the outdoor spaces and plunge pool after a day of adventure. At night, the whole family will appreciate retiring to their luxuriously appointed rooms that are close by yet still private. The site features two separate Casita units and is able to sleep up to four guests in king or twin beds.
Casita Grande
Four Bedrooms. Casita Grande is perfect for families and friends travelling together. Groups can reconnect and relax in the midst of a tropical paradise before retiring to their gorgeous rooms for restful evenings in total comfort. The site features four separate Casita units and is able to sleep up to eight guests in king or twin beds.
The Cuisine
The unique cathedral-like Terraza is the perfect setting for guests to enjoy locally sourced dishes prepared with Panamanian flare. You’ll delight in freshly made, mouth-watering dishes using the finest local ingredients!
Menus change daily using the freshest ingredients, the catch-of-the-day and just-picked produce. Sunset barbecues, beach picnics and room service in the Casitas can also be arranged upon request.
The beachside lounge overlooks the bay and it’s the perfect meeting point for cocktails before dinner!
Adjacent to the Terraza is Balboa Bar. With handcrafted panel interiors and displays of historic maps and local artwork, it’s a perfect place to relax with a book, enjoy an aperitif or post-dinner nightcap.
