Unlike other areas in Costa Rica central Puntarenas has largely remained off many surfers’ radar. The mountainous scenery and adaptable rock and sand breaks offer something for everyone. The best time to surf is May to November with S-SW swells ranging from 3-12ft.

Manuel Antonio National Park has fun waves for all standards along Playa Espadilla, but the northwest corner at Playitas holds the best waves from mid to high tide and there is also an outer reef righthander with a solid swell and a high tide.
