Hotel Aguas Claras is a luxury, sustainable, plastic-free, artistic beach boutique hotel located in Puerto Viejo, on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast. The region is known for its Afro-Caribbean influence and down-to-earth vibe.

The hotel has direct beach access to Playa Chiquita via a private gate and path! The resort features a relaxing outdoor swimming pool, yoga shala, massage room, and lush tropical gardens throughout the property. Complimentary beach cruisers, bicycles, and snorkeling equipment are available at the hotel for guests’ use.

With the aim of creating a calm and private ambiance, the resort does not accommodate children under 12 years old.

Puerto Viejo is a small surf town on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coastline, known for black sand beaches, crystal clear waters, reggae music, and a laid-back vibe. The surf season in Puerto Viejo goes only from December to March, with another short season from June to August.

The right-hander reef break of Salsa Brava, aka the Costa Rican Backdoor, is the most powerful surf spot in the area, and it is known as a world-class barreling wave for experienced surfers only. A short distance from Salsa Brava you will find Playa Cocles, a beach break that offers both right and left waves, suitable for all skill levels. Another popular surfing spot is Punta Uva, a fun right-hander reef break on clear waters surrounded by gorgeous scenery.

Surf Lessons for beginners can be arranged with the hotel’s partner surf school.

The restored Victorian house located near the pool and restaurant contains 6 Themed Deluxe Rooms, the Pavlova Suites, with a spectacular outdoor covered shower made of mosaics as part of a private semi-open terrace designed in a Moroccan style. Set upon wooden stilts, bungalows at Aguas Claras are modernized Caribbean-Victorian-style houses, each one furnished with curated, upcycled objects and surrounded by lush vegetation.
For bigger groups, Casa Floralia is a private 2-story Caribbean House with 5 rooms accommodating up to 10 guests.

Every dish is inspired by its surroundings and is made with fresh, local ingredients.

Papaya Restaurant is a boho hideaway for poolside lounging and leisure. The colors, textures, and aesthetic details mix with a culinary experience influenced by the tropical surroundings and international tastes. The Restaurant also hosts intimate DJ sets, theme nights, and acoustic gatherings.
