The resort is unique in that all the accommodation options that it offers are overwater, giving a spectacular luxury surfing experience.
The resort has access to a fun lefthander that breaks across the house reef (advanced surfers only) and with a wide range of sumptuous dining options, a fully stocked overwater spa, an expert on-site surf team, Anantara Veli has all of the ingredients for an incredible luxury escape for any surfer!
The Resort
Anantara Veli is everything that you would expect from a high-end luxury resort. Backed by the world-renowned Anantara brand, Anantara Veli offers beautifully designed overwater accommodation, amazing dining experiences, and a wealth of activities to be enjoyed.
The resort comprises 67 over-water and ocean bungalows, all with beautiful views over the Indian Ocean. Situated just 30 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, there are no long transfers to worry about upon arrival! The resort offers a range of couples’ spa journeys, open-air cinema, private dining, and access to facilities at their sister resort, Anantara Dhigu.
Waves at Anantara Veli
Anantara Veli offers you access to all of the great waves in the South Male Atoll. South Male is generally quieter than its neighbor, North Male. This makes it great for those seeking to escape the crowds and enjoy quieter surfs.
The resort has a left-hand reef breaking on its house reef for advanced surfers. You can reach this without boat access and is free to surf as much as you want. This spot is for advanced surfers only and is best surfed with the onsite surf guides.
With the help of the expert onsite guiding, you can also surf Riptides (a fun intermediate-friendly right), Foxies (a great left-hander that offers barrels in the right conditions), Quarters (another good quality right), and others in the area!
Generally receiving smaller surf than North Male, Anantara Veli is great for all levels, with those looking for the biggest swells to travel May – September!
The Villas
At Anantara Veli, all accommodation options are overwater or ocean front, giving you the feeling of high-end, exclusive luxury. Discover the beauty of waking up, overlooking the crystal clear Indian Ocean. All rooms have been designed with comfort and luxury at the forefront, with large, comfortable beds, stylish furniture, and large bathrooms.
The entry-level Overwater Bungalows are beautiful offering great views of the lagoon and are extremely comfortable. If you’re looking for an even higher-end experience, we would recommend the Deluxe Ocean Bungalows with their own private pool!
