Cinnamon Dhonveli is where surfing in the Maldives began. Ever since Tony Hussein Hinde stumbled across the perfect waves of the Maldives whilst hitching a lift on a yacht from Sri Lanka to Africa and established Atoll Adventures, surfers have dreamt of surfing perfect Pasta Point.
Located in North Male, Cinnamon Dhonveli offers access to their private wave, Pasta Point, for a lucky 33 surfers onsite. This keeps the crowds low and the vibes high! The resort itself is luxurious and the perfect spot for solo surfers, couples, and families wanting to surf the tropical reefs around North Male!
The Resort
Cinnamon Dhonveli is located in the North Male Atoll, only a 20-minute boat ride from the international airport. The resort is located on its own tropical island paradise with its private wave, Pasta Point breaking on the resort’s private reef, right in front of the restaurant. Watch the waves roll in whilst enjoying the amazing food on offer!
The resort offers a full luxury spa, open-air restaurants, three bars, a fitness centre, a safe beach for children, and a fully certified PADI Diving School! The resort has a beautiful white sand beach and plenty to do for non-surfing partners and children, it’s a great place to relax or to holiday with the family.
Waves at Cinnamon Dhonveli
The star of the show is the private wave onsite, Pasta Point, this classy left-hander reels along the reef at the perfect speed to do turns as well as tube sections that extend as swell gets a bit bigger. On small days the inside section gives good little barrels! Access is limited to only 33 surfers on-site, which means the wave stays uncrowded and everyone gets their share of waves!
The surf program at Pasta Point is the longest-running and most established of all Maldives Surf Resorts. The expert on-site surf team offers multiple boat rides a day to the other waves in North Male, starting at 5.30 am. Within easy reach of the resort, you can surf Cokes, Chickens, Sultans, Jailbreaks, Honky’s, and Ninjas! Enough variety to keep all surfers stoked!
The Bungalows and Villas
Cinnamon Dhonveli offers six room types to suit everyone. The Garden Bungalows and Beach Bungalows are the most popular with surfers, offering garden or beach access, and are great value.
For something a bit more exclusive, the Water Bungalows are built over the water inside the reef; with views of the waves breaking just up from Pasta Point you don’t even have to get out of bed for the morning surf check! The Junior Beach Suites inspired by the beachfront and offering panoramic views of the sea and land. The Over Water Suites, above the lagoon, have a wide outdoor deck with private sun lounges and steps down to the water. Finally, the Beach Suite with Pool is an exclusive beach-stay with ample privacy and stylish comfort.

Duplex Garden Bungalow
55 sqm. The luscious forest green and sun-bleached white interior of the Duplex Garden Bungalow will soothe your senses from the moment you step in. Set in a tropical coconut grove with splendid views from your own private balcony, these family friendly rooms are ideal for a group. The ground floor accommodates a seating area, desk and bathroom, with a king size bed on the mezzanine floor.
Beach Bungalow
59 sqm. Stroll out from your room and straight onto the sand where your sun loungers lie, positioned under the nearby umbrellas and palms. If you’d rather sink into a comfy couch and soak up the view, there’s one of your very own right on the deck of your Beach Bungalow. This beach cabin-like room comes with an airy bathroom and a beautiful view.
Water Bungalow
63 sqm. Remove yourself from reality with style. The glass wall panels of our standalone Water Bungalows give way to views of the sea that you may have never dreamed of before. Surrounded by the cerulean shallows of the island, your expansive room includes a Jacuzzi bathtub, where you can watch the waves and enjoy some bubbly with your bubble bath. There is direct access to the sea from your deck, for those moments when you feel like jumping in for a casual snorkel with the marine life.
Junior Beach Suite
95 sqm. Abundant space, an indulgent view of the gardens and the ocean, and a luxurious open-air bathroom, complete with shower and Jacuzzi. With some of the finest in-room amenities available on the island, your beach villa will make your stay all the more pleasurable, and provide you with some therapeutic rest after an active day.
Overwater Suite
95 sqm. If you came for the ultimate sea view, this overwater villa is the room for you! From the underwater jungle-themed décor to the fact that you can gaze straight out into the ocean from each room in the suite, we know you’ll love it here. The sleek, expansive outdoor setting includes direct access to the lagoon, and a hammock that sways over the water. Stretch out on a sun lounger or enjoy some room service at your private open-air dining table, all with the mesmeric sound of the waves surrounding you.
Beach Suite with Pool
170 sqm. If you’re travelling as a family, the Beach Suite with Pool is the one for you. This two-storey suite dedicates one floor each to the bedroom and living room areas, an open-air bathroom and extensive storage space for luggage and clothes. With your own private terrace thrown in, you’ll truly feel like royalty presiding over your stylishly designed kingdom!
The Cuisine
At Cinnamon Dhonveli there are three open-air restaurants located across the island catering for the nearby room categories.
The Maakana restaurant, overlooking Pasta Point, caters to most of the surfing guests and offers up a gourmet buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner, perfect for refueling after a surf!
The expert chefs serve up a range of international and local cuisines, all to a very high standard! Enjoy a cold beer or sunset cocktail at Raalhu Bar, which sits in a prime position directly in front of Pasta Point!
